Five Minute Friday instructions: Write for five minutes on the word of the week. This is meant to be a free write, which means: no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation. Just write.
Sometimes I think we are too comfortable. We like the way we like things and that is that. I know I am like that. I am not a fan of change, large or small. (Just ask anyone who tries to mess with my lists and schedules.) However, it is dangerous to get too comfortable. What I have found when I am too comfortable is that I am unhappy and unfulfilled. That doesn’t seem to make sense, does it? If I am comfortable and doing what I want to and have everything like I want it, I should be happy, right? But look at where the emphasis is on that previous sentence. I, myself, me. That is why I am unhappy and unfulfilled when I stubbornly stay where I am most comfortable. We are not meant to be me-centered. We need to be other-centered. That is how the Lord made us. To fellowship with Him and others. To put others first. To love others and see to their needs.
The topic of comfort has been all around me this week. Specifically the topic of stepping out of your comfort zone. I haven’t searched for anything about this topic, it just keeps randomly popping up. I laughed out loud when I saw what the topic was for today’s Five Minute Friday was comfort. Next Thursday (7/20/17) I will be going live on The Glorious Table Community’s Facebook page for a coffee date. I decided on my topic last month. Guess what that topic is? Stepping out of your comfort zone. I have been praying for guidance on this topic since June. I guess the Lord is preparing me for next week.
