Five Minute Friday: Write for five minutes on the word of the week. This is meant to be a free write, which means: no editing, no over-thinking, no worrying about perfect grammar or punctuation. Just write. This week’s word is steady.
I am a somewhat clumsy person. Therefore, I am not always steady on my feet. Recently, I strained a muscle in my back, which left me even more unsteady as I wobbled hesitantly around after the pain subsided after a couple of days, wary of reinjure. (I hurt my back in the ever-so-daring way of bending over to get a bowl out of a kitchen cabinet.) However, I know sometimes we can look physically steady on the outside when we are anything but on the inside. We smile and look put together and look rock solid, when on the inside we are mush. We can’t be rock solid on our own. We need the solid rock of Jesus. I love this hymn, “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.”
